Greek semolina halva


  • Semolina 1/2 package coarse
  • Butter 125 gr
  • Pine nuts or almonds 1 small cup
For the syrup
  • Water 2 glasses
  • Sugar 1 glass
  • Orange 2 (the zest)


In a pan melt the butter ,add the pine nuts until brown (pay attention to the butter not to be smoked),when they are browned add the semolina and stir for 5 minutes at low heat.Prepare the syrup (do not boil it),pour it over the semolina,turn the heat down to medium-low and let it cook.(If you want to be granular mash it with a fork.If you want to be thick pour it in a mold).Sprinkle with some cinnamon and serve.
