Greek portokalopita (Orange filo pie )


  • Eggs 2
  • Yogurt 1 small tub 2 %
  • Sugar 3/4 cup
  • Baking powder 1 1/2 sachet
  • Vanilla powder 1
  • Filo pastry 1 package
  • Olive oil 1 cup
  • Orange zest 2 oranges
For the syrup
  • Orange juice 1 glass
  • Water 2 glasses
  • Sugar 1 1/2 glass


Tear the sheets of the filo pastry into small pieces using your hands.In a bowl mix all the ingredients the olive oil,the yogurt,the eggs,the sugar,the orange zest,the vanilla powder and the baking powder.Then add the filo pastry and stir thoroughly until it absorbs the whole mixture.Place the mixture in a roasting pan and bake at 180 degrees until brown.Bake it in a Pyrex to check if it is well baked on both sides.In a pan add all the ingredients for the syrup and boil for 5 – 7 minutes.Keep the syrup hot.When the pie is baked,remove it from the oven and pour the hot syrup over it.Let it cool and serve.
