Chocolate sponge cake roll ( Greek chocolate kormos )

Ingredients

  • Caster sugar 1 glass
  • Vegetable butter 1 tub
  • Eggs 3
  • Cocoa powder 1 package
  • Vanilla powder 1
  • Water 1 small cup
For the sponge cake
  • Eggs 5
  • Sugar 1 glass
  • All-purpose flour 1 1/2 glass
  • Baking powder 1 level tablespoon
  • Vanilla powder 1
  • Water 1 glass ( not full )
For the syrup
  • Water 1 glass
  • Sugar 2 tablespoons
  • Whisky 1/2 small cup

Instructions

First prepare the sponge cake,beat all the ingredients with an electric mixer.Line a roasting pan with some parchment paper and pour the mixture in it.Bake for 20 minutes at 180 degrees.It is ready when an inserted knife comes out clean,remove it from the oven and place it on a kitchen towel,pour the syrup you have prepared with the water mixed with the sugar and the whisky over the sponge cake.Carefully roll it up ( with the towel ) and let it cool well.Prepare the filling,in a pan melt the butter and add all the remaining ingredients.Stir until the cream is fluffy.When the sponge cake is cool,roll it out,remove the towel and spread the chocolate cream on it ( keep 2 tablespoons approximately for garnish on top ).Roll it up carefully.Spread the remaining chocolate cream on top.If you want draw some lines using a fork to look like a tree trunk.Refrigerate it to thicken.
