Black cherry jam


  • Black cherries 1 kg
  • Sugar 800 gr
  • Water 200 gr
  • Lemon 1/2 its juice


Wash the black cherries well,remove the stems and place them in pan with water.Boil them at medium heat for 7 – 8 minutes and drain them using a colander,place them in a bowl.Remove the pits with your hands ( it is easier ) and place the black cherries again in the pan with their juices released in the bowl.Melt them using a whisk,add the sugar,stir and simmer  until the syrup thickens.Remove the black cherries using a skimmer.Add the lemon juice to the pan and simmer until the syrup thickens.Add the black cherries again and simmer for a few more minutes.Remove the pan from the heat,let it cool and pour the jam in sterilized jars.Keep the in cool and dark place for 4 – 5 months.
